The Palácio da Bolsa, headquarters and property of the Commercial Association of Porto - Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Porto, is one of the main ex-libris and poles of tourist attraction of the City and the Region. The stage of most official state receptions in the North of Portugal, by the Palace of the Bourse have passed governors, high dignitaries and the main statesmen of the 20th century.
Over three generations, great names in architecture, painting, sculpture and the decorative arts have contributed to the creation of a unique estate and heritage in Palácio da Bolsa, a true jewel of the neoclassical style of the 18th century. XIX, from Joaquim da Costa Lima to Arq. Marques da Silva, from Pintor António Ramalho to Veloso Salgado, António Carneiro or Medina, from Soares dos Reis to Teixeira Lopes.
As a Cultural and Conference Center, this monument was the founder of the HISTORIC CONFERENCE CENTERS OF EUROPE, the European Network of Conference Centers installed in monuments or historic sites.
The grandiosity of the Courtyard of Nations, the historic interest of the Trade Court and the sumptuous Presidential Hall are worthy of reference. However, the Arab Salon, covered with blue and gold designs, is its greatest exponent.
Adjacent to the Church of San Francisco stands the imposing Bourse Palace, neoclassical in style, a building built in 1842 that reflects the commercial flourishing of the city.
National Monument, located in the area classified by Unesco as a World Heritage Site, Palácio da Bolsa is a lively and active space, open to the community, where the objectives of being a meeting point, a room where impressions are exchanged , where business is promoted, where events are held, where opinion is formed, where decisions are influenced or where one simply lives.
