The Museu da Chapelaria is under the supervision of the São João da Madeira City Council, which acquired in 1996 the industrial estate resulting from the closure of several factories related to the headgear industry and also acquired the building of the most important industrial unit of this branch. activity, the Industrial Headgear Company (EICHAP), where the Museum would be installed.



The Hat Museum is unique in the Iberian Peninsula and is a tribute to the men and women who made the hat industry one of the most important activities in the history of São João da Madeira.

From the oldest hat factory, was born in 2005, the Hat Museum.



Visit the Museum and find in its museum space the images, machinery, tools and hats that illustrate the magical world of hats, but also the human, social and cultural dimension of a community to which this activity has always assumed relief paper.
