Onze Rust is a hostel with a natural fountain surrounded by a lush indigenous garden and dam. It is the ideal starting point from which to discover the wineries, golf courses and beaches in the local area. Stellenbosch is 30 minutes away from Cape Town, and Onze Rust is only 15 minutes from Cape Town International Airport. It is a few kilometres form the N2 motorway which links Cape Town to the South Coast and nearby beaches of Strand and Gordon’s Bay. Onze Rust is one of the oldest farms in the Stellenbosch district dating back to 1715. It held the original title deed of the land on which some wine farms in the surrounding area were later established.
The old Victorian house, located only 50 metres from the natural fountain, is a reminder of an era when people built with clay. Even nowadays the thick walls keep the building cool in summer and warm in winter. The building has sustained major damage due to 2 fires, but was restored to its original glory on each occasion.
